TFL sits at the heart of India’s National Coal Gasification Mission, which targets 100 million tonnes of coal gasification capacity by 2030. As the country’s first coal gasification–based fertilizer plant, TFL contributes about 2.53 MTPA to that national capacity establishing at commercial scale a route that turns India’s most abundant energy resource into value-added products. Every tonne of urea produced here substitutes imported fertilizer and displaces imported natural gas, strengthening the nation’s fertilizer and energy security. By demonstrating that high-ash Indian coal can be converted efficiently and cleanly into plant nutrients, TFL creates a template for the coal-to-chemicals industry that Atmanirbhar Bharat envisions.
